Advice from a friend

I recently told a close friend about my paruresis he said to me to count 5 white things in the toulet i found this interesting.

This is known as the "distraction technique".
Even non-paruretics occasionally have some urinary hesitancy, and this usually works for them. (I have seen others make comments like this before on other unrelated forums).
May help sometimes, but probably not the best strategy for a true AP'er.
In saying that "whatever works" is still a good philosophy, eg - some have virtually cured this problem by nailing the "breath-hold" technique. (a shame this does not work for everyone).

Yes it may work for some mild cases but not as much as others i have had varied success with urinal bowls lately more success when im with friends out the back yard being able to pee. I found after i stopped taking zoloft my paruresis improved but i would not encourage anyone to take meds for paruresis or anx or depression unless no other option. for that stuff i find simple excercise and some st johns wort effective.
