Newest Members are spammers

Post by Derek » Sun Feb 08, 2009 3:11 am

A common problem with this new software is the spambots, ie automatic robotically included spammers.
They are obvious by the fact they have a web-site, often linked to Eastern European sites.
I am sure the administrators here will work out a way to get rid of them, like they had to on the IPA.
I actually used to help the IPA by deleting spammers and porno pictures at night.
Hopefully it will never amount to this stage.

Thank you, Derek.
Actually I needed to delete two of their posts during the past few hours (Monday 9th). I didn't actually read them, but what they were, was clear from the subject headings.

I have disabled automatic registrations, so that administrators must approve of any users before they can post.

This is not an ideal situation, I am currently looking at another solution. At least we are not getting any disgusting posts now 8-)
