Hi Alan,
Many thanks for your post, which I'm sure many people will find very helpful.
Great to be hearing from you again.
I hope that's all the hospital "practice" you'll be having now for a long time.

Re: Ultrasound of Prostate & Bladder
Hi Ross, I had a similar experience with Ultrasound some time back, with my kidneys the main interest, although not for stones, I am pleased to say. But I had to go through the routine of being fluid-loaded and having the Ultrasound before and after emptying my bladder. I did of course have no probl...

Re: My Story
Hi John, Thank you for letting us learn of your story. Yes, we can all identify with parts of your struggle - common themes indeed. It's good to hear of the progress you made on your own, and if you can now set up a practising routine with one or two others, in all probability your fears of regressi...

Re: how do u practice overcoming sbs
Have you read the book by Steven Soifer, "Shy Bladder Syndrome"? It explains what we mean by "Graduated Exposure Therapy" - namely practising at a level suitable to your present level of paruresis severity. So you practice at a level which makes it highly likely that you will have a success. (To pra...

Re: Help finding suitable CB Therapist in Perth
You have already made a start, by posting to this forum :-). I can't help you with finding a suitable Perth therapist, but somebody else reading this forum may be able to. You say nothing about just how severe your paruresis is (what we call the "Primary Paruresis"), but the fact that you don't feel...

Re: Going in for general anaesthetic / surgery
Derek and all, About six months ago I had an inguinal hernia op using keyhole surgery (a re-do after a double inguinal hernia quite some years ago, before the keyhole techniques). I was to be in hospital only overnight. The surgery was in the morning, and by the evening I still couldn't empty my bla...

Re: Newspaper Article
Hi Ross, A friend who doesn't normally read the "Daily Telegraph" saw it by accident, tore it out and and posted it to me. I'll try to remember to bring it to the next PAA Committee meeting. Of course, you could try the "Telegraph" website, and then post the link here if you have success. BTW "Shy" ...

Newspaper Article
Sydney's "Daily Telegraph" ran a short but well-informed mention of Paruresis on Saturday 12th September (p.113, Inside edition), in the column "askbossy with Kate de Brito". It even mentioned the paruresis.org.au web address. I was surprised at how accurate this columnist was in the advice given. T...
