Re: How's this for a pee shy nightmare

Sounds terrible, almost like pissing in a sink in front of someone, or pissing in another blokes pocket. I find it particularly disturbing if the general public (including women) can see the urinal from the outside as they walk past. I have also heard that there are unisex toilets in Japan, where th...

Re: The space-time continuum...

Hi Tim, Well done. This is a very encouraging post on your practice session. I found that to go into toilets that I had previously avoided was good therapy. Sometimes just to explore and wash hands etc.. You have done well... Keep up the good work.. Ross. I find it is not a bad idea to check out to...

Re: The space-time continuum...

I have noticed that many people use cubicles to pee standing up. Ne time while doing a no2. 5 people came in and used the cubicles beside me and all stood up to pee in the cubicles. Makes a paeuretic feel a little less of an alien.. This is a very important observation. When paruresis was at it's w...

Paruresis can start from nowhere, and before you know it - it has generalized and taken a life of it's own - and the downward spiral has now taken hold. Mine started in 4th class in Primary School, and pretty soon could not go with anyone within ea...

Re: How to bring on urination

These are what's called distraction techniques, although they may have a physiological effect here.
They may work for you, but not necessarily for everyone.
Just like various drugs or breath-hold.
Anything that works for the individual, is worth trying.

Re: Plane flight to Europe

Travelling is problematic for many paruretics. As far as plane trips go, there are numerous references to it on the IPA site, www.paruresis.org I would look at some other survival techniques such as breath-holding and self-catheterization as well. Breath-holding in particular has ended the woes of p...
