Re: Urologist Flow Study

Hi Sam, glad to see you are catching up on your reading thro' the old PAA posts on this web site. Hopefully it will help you to see that many are suffering like you with paruresis, and that you can improve/recover from it. My HoLEP surgery when well in 2013. I had very little pain, and it took a cou...

They are a very friendly group, who like you, all have paruresis and are seeking to improve like you. If you are coming along for the first time, don't come fluid load...

Re: List of good toilets for exposure practice

Travelling South from Sydney again !!! The McDonalds at Yass Service centre on the Hume Expressway has been modernised. The toilets there would be one of the best layouts I’ve seen for some time. A large room with 5 urinal bowls, well spaced, with almost full height dividers. On the wall behind are ...

Re: The danger of secrets

Well said Wally !! This is actually how I felt when I first discovered this web site about 10 years ago. I had kept my secret about my 'shy bladder' for over 40 years, and when I found out that it had a name, and that others suffered from it as well, it was like a revelation!! The more we feel comfo...

Shy Bladder Syndrome Book - Steven Soifer

Hi All Readers of this web forum. This book is a 'must have' for anyone seeking to recover from Shy Bladder- Paruresis. It helps explain what the condition is, and how you can recover from it. Many public libraries carry a copy, but it's also great to have your own copy so that you can refer to it f...

Re: Paruresis Article on Urology Website

Hi John. Yes I agree this is a good article. I was able to pass on a printed copy to the practice nurse at my urologist yesterday. She has been very interested in Paruresis for some time and has seen a lot of people who can't use their flow machine. It's a shame that the urologist doesn't show the s...

Re: List of good toilets for exposure practice

Update on an earlier post on this topic. Just stopped again at South Goulbourn McDonalds. Their bathrooms have been recently renovated and modernised. The 3 urnal bowls now have 3/4 length dividers and are well spaced to give you plenty of privacy. Recommend you give this a practice try when travell...

Urologist Flow Study

Yesterday I had to undertake a urine Flow Study at my urologist. Many years ago I would have not been able to do this because of my severe paruresis. It consisted of peeing into a special bucket which has sensors in the bottom. It basically records when you start, your flow rate, how long you take, ...
