Re: The conversation: Caught short: we need to talk about public

Interesting, local councils, buildings and shopping centres are only concerned with the provision of public toilets, or whether or not they have to be provided. There is no legislation dictating design, or whether they have to have adequate space (cubicles and urinals) to cope with the traffic flow....

Re: Urologist Flow Study

Hi Ross, How did you go with surgery to open up our urethra? I had to do this test before about 10 years back and they found out my flow was equivalent to a 50/60 year old man (I was in my early 30's at the time). Apparently I have an unusual shaped urethra which is quite narrow and effects the str...

Re: The danger of secrets

Hi there all, I recently discovered this website and I am glad to be here amongst you all. I first learned about paruresis online close to 16 years ago. Back then I had immediately ordered the book by Dr Soifer and other authors. What happened back then was that just learning about it and not feeli...

Re: Random Drug Test Issues

At my place of employment, employees can be subjected to random drug tests. (not myself though as I am in the government section). This is not as random as it first appears, and employers can act on "tip offs" that somebody may be a regular drug user. They tend to use the disabled toilet, where some...

Re: Correct information & early help vital

Whilst I agree in theory to many of your assertions, one must still endeavour to improve to adapt to the society they live in, and that means practicing at reduced levels of privacy. Once you can use urinals reliably in practice situations (fluid loaded and in known toilets), going back to cubicles ...

Re: is a physchologist helpful for severe paruresis

Psychs dont help the situation, they look down on ya, like it dont exist, just like the doctors, dont go to them bro, waste of time, dont give them the satisfaction. Peace, Jonno I don't think they help a lot, but they are not deliberately unhelpful either. This is mainly a behavioural and poor con...

Re: Update on my path

Thanks for the advice sort of wanted to be at this level for a long time see it as a faster path so too lose it again i would hate myself Some regression is inevitable when recovering, the key is not to beat yourself up over it. Just say, "'I know what that is, that's called a misfire."". This triv...

Interesting Article today

All, have a look at this article: http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/society-and-culture/ladies-the-losers-in-loos-lotto-20130209-2e4yr.html Although written from a female perspective and more about lack of toilets in public venues, it skirts around the issue of Shy Bladders, without getting into the rea...

Re: New milestone

Well done, sports stadiums and situations like travelling usually present the most trouble to AP'ers.
Sometimes you are better off using survival modes in these circumstances, and continue working on recovery strategies under more favourable conditions.
